The 3-day Urs of renowned saint Hazrat Mian Mir Sahib started on Tuesday at his tomb located in Dharampura.
Mian Mir, whose real name was Baba Sain Mir Mohammed Sahib, belonged to Sindh and was the founder of Mian Khail branch of the Qadiri order. He is famous for being the spiritual instructor of Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He is also a spiritual leader in Sikhism. Every year his Urs celebrations start from 7 Rabi-ul-Awal. Thousands of followers from all across the world participate in his Urs. A number of police personals have been deployed across the tomb. Only one entrance is open for people and the security personals search people at three different points before letting them in.
