US Consul General Nina Maria Fite called on Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa and discussed matters of mutual interest at the Governor House on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab governor said that Pakistan’s strategic ties with the US were very important and the relations between the two countries should be further strengthened on the basis of respect and collaboration. He said, “Pakistan believes that continuous dialogue is the only solution to all the issues. War is not a solution for anything. Pakistan is a significant part of the region’s stability and peace. Without its participation, the permanent solution of this region cannot be materialised.”
He also urged the need to promote mutual trade between Pakistan and United States through access to Pakistani products in the US market, adding that Pakistan believes in trade rather than aid. The US consul general said that the US accorded great importance to its relations with Pakistan and wished to promote trade cooperation between the two countries. She said that the US would provide maximum assistance to Pakistan in agriculture sector, development of human resources and harnessing the capabilities of the Pakistani youth.
