Lytton Road Police arrested an injured robber after an encounter near Chuburgi Area on Tuesday. The police said officials of Lytton Road Police on were standing near Chuburgi Chowk at a picket when they signalled two motorcyclists to stop because the bike’s number plate was covered with a shopping bag. The motorcyclists tried to escape from the scene and the police officials started chasing them.
The riders entered the residential area (Chuburgi Quarters) and exchanged fire with the police. The motorcyclists then took a family hostage and threatened to kill them. The police continued to fire and after one and a half hour, arrested one robber while his accomplice managed to escape. The robber, identified as Asif, a resident of Sodiwal Quarters, was admitted to Services Hospital where his condition was said to be stable. The police’s effort was lauded by the locals.
