Dr Rass appointed PU registrar

Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has appointed Department of Botany Chairman Prof Dr Rass Masood Khan as the PU registrar, a notification issued on Tuesday said, adding that Dr Rass will assume his charge as registrar on Wednesday (today). Dr Rass Masood Khan completed his PhD in Botany from PU in 1984. His research was based on “Sedimentary and Stratigraphical Palynology”. Dr Rass was a post-doctoral fellow at the Ohio State University, USA Department of Plant Biology from 1992-1993. He was selected for Gold Medal and Fellow Award by the Punjab Geological Society in 1998, for contributing significantly in Paleozoic and Mesozoic Palynology.
He was also awarded the Best Teacher Award by the Punjab University in 2002 and 2004. Dr Rass is the editor of Pakistan Journal of Geology, published by the PU Geological Society. He has participated in 17 national and international seminars, workshops and symposiums and contributed 68 research papers on various issues. Moreover, 10 PhD and 11 MS/MPhil students have completed their research theses under his supervision.
