In what appeared to be another sectarian killing in the city, unidentified assailants gunned down a doctor belonging to the Deoband school of thought in Malir on Tuesday. Saudabad SHO Zulfiqar Bajwa told Pakistan Today that Dr Asfaq Kazi, 40, son of Mushtaq Kazi, was going to his clinic in Malir when two gunmen riding a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets near Malir Halt Bus Stop. The body of the deceased was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and handed over to the heirs after postmortem. The victim’s son was said to be associated with a religious group but the doctor himself had no direct links with any religious groups. Bajwa said the police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
