Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday claimed that peace in Karachi was being destroyed under a “deep-seated conspiracy”. According to a press release, Altaf was addressing the MQM’s Coordination Committee meeting through telephone. He condemned the recent incidents of violence and murder in Karachi, saying the government and law enforcement agencies had failed in protecting the lives and properties of people. The MQM chief asked the people to come out and take self-help measures to protect their lives and properties rather relying on state apparatus. He advised people to form vigilante committees and neighbourhood watch teams to ensure peace in the vicinity. Altaf also offered condolences to the bereaved family members who had lost their relatives in the terror incidents, the press release added.
