Cricket, kabaddi steal limelight in Provincial Sports Festival

The Punjab Sports Festival 2012, which is being organised by the Sports Board Punjab on the directions of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, has entered its ninth day. The competitions in different sports are continuing in nearly all the Union Council of the province with activity being witnessed in cricket, football, hockey, badminton in major cities while games like kabaddi, volleyball and handball are being played in rural UC areas.
In Lahore, Model Town UC 150 participated in cricket matches. Adnan XI beat Mubeen XI by 81 runs in 7 overs. Naeem was declared the best player with 33 runs. In badminton of UC I7, Old Stars beat Youngsters 2-1. In Lahore City UC 73 and 69, Hammad XI and Zahid XI won their cricket the matches with ease. Sheikh Faisal from UC 68 and Hammad XI from UC 103 were the winners. In Cantt/Shalamar, UC 62 and 65 participated in football match in which Jallopind won the match. In athletics, UC 62, 8 events were held in which 17 players participated. 18 players participated in 8 events in UC 65. In cricket, UC 65, 5 teams participated while in UC 62, 6 teams participated. The qualified teams were Asif Gujjar from UC 65 and Ali XI from UC 62. In badminton, UC 62, Ansar beat Ashraf 15-4, Qasim beat Naveed 15-6, Tanveer defeated Ahsan 15-0. In UC 65, Jalil beat Khadim 15-12, Asif defeated Rehman 15-9 and Sabir beat Sajid 15-8. In Layyah, 142 Union Councils 36 teams participated in football, 28 in volleyball, 22 in athletics,20, in badminton, 2 in hockey and 32 teams in cricket.
In Multan 40 Union Councils participated in cricket, 15 UCs in athletics, 20 in badminton and 8 in kabaddi. In Lodhran, 5 UCs participated in athletics, 27 in cricket, 4 in football, 36 in badminton and 4 in kabaddi.
In Sahiwal, 2 UCs participated in athletics, 20 in cricket, 21 in football, 19 in badminton and 7 in kabaddi. In Okara,18 UCs participated in athletics, 41 in cricket, 61 in football, 9 in badminton, 25 in hockey and 2 in kabaddi.
In Khushab, 23 UCs participated with 61 in cricket, 13 in kabaddi, 15 in hockey, 41 in volleyball and 21 in football.

    It is stated respectfully that Punjab government has announced to start Punjab sports festival and announced 55,000.Rs for (each union council) as prize. We want to acknowledge that matches of union council has finished and the Tehsil level games has near to finish but still the prize that government of Punjab has announced still has not given to the players . Prizes are so far no one has give to the players refreshments no any sports equipments has given to the players like ( tapes,balls,bats, rackets, hokey balls foot balls etc ). Players bore all the expenses by themselves .It is requested that Kindly look into the mater. We are waiting for your positive response.
