Aitzaz, SC judges exchange words over ‘wall clock’ in court room

An interesting exchange of remarks took place in the Supreme Court here on Wednesday during the contempt notice hearing against Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani between the honourable judges and Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan over the place of a wall clock in the court room.
During the hearing, Barrister Aitzaz requested the bench for the change of wall clock position, pointing out that the clock behind him may be shifted to his right hand side.
At this, member of the bench Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, in the context of not writing letter to the Swiss authorities by the prime minister, said “you did not follow our orders and we would not accede to your request.”
Justice Athar Saeed said that the site of the clock could be changed at the conclusion of Aitzaz’s arguments.
Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, noting that Aitzaz Ahsan was avoiding to talk about presidential immunity, said “after one hour you have returned to the same point from where you started.”
The justice, in a light tone, said “you are moving in the same way as the clock in the court room.”
