There’s a lot in a name

The Lahore High Court on Monday allowed petitioner counsel to file an amended petition against the holding of 18 portfolios by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif by naming the CM as party in the case. Appearing in the court the petitioner said Punjab chief minister was holding portfolios of 18 ministries against rules. However, the court observed that the chief minister had not been impleaded as a party in the petition which was necessary. The counsel contended that the CM could not be impleaded as a party because he enjoyed immunity. However, the court did not agree with the contention and observed it was a matter of theory. The petitioner sought permission to file an amended petition for impleading the CM which was accepted by the court.
