Six years of ITP celebrated

In a special ceremony held at Kalsoom Plaza Chowk on the advent of 7th year of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), Islamabad Police chief Bani Amin Khan distributed flowers and pamphlets among the road users, urging them to follow traffic rules not only for their own safety but also for the others. He said the main focus of ITP was is to create awareness among road users about traffic rules, especially curbing the practice of lane violation, jumping red signals, one wheeling and other violations putting the lives of people at risk. SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood, SP (Traffic) Mir Vaiz Niaz, In-charge Education Team Inspector Mehfooz Kyani, ITP Programme Coordinator Ayesh Jameel and other police officials were also present on the occasion along with representatives of Pak-Suzuki Company, which collaborated for arranging the simple but dignified ceremony on Monday.
The Islamabad IGP said that the ITP was making all-out efforts to check violations and create awareness among the citizens about traffic rules. “For the purpose of acquaintance with traffic laws, seminars and workshops are arranged and walks are also planned from time to time to mobilise the community for cooperation with police officials.” He said over speeding, jumping red signals and ignoring pedestrian rights were the main violations being committed by the road users. “Islamabad Traffic Police manages various surveys to know about the particular of violations in the city and then try to check them through arranging informative programs and mobilizing their strength,” he added.
