Additional Session Judge Nankana Sahib Muhammad Saleem Gujjar admitted bail after the arrest of main accused Shamroz Rai in the Saba Rai rape case on Tuesday and ordered that the accused be released from Sheikhupura Jail against the surety bonds of Rs 100,000 but the accused’s release order could not be dispatched because the court was short of time. The accused’s counsel Atique Maan told Pakistan Today that Shamroz will be released on Wednesday.
On 24th October 2011 allegedly accused Shamroz kidnapped Saba Rai from Shahkot Commerce college and raped her. Police arrested the accused on 4th Nov and declared him guilty but when the case trail commenced the two parties compromised after the victim’s family decided to marry Saba to Shamroz. Saba Rai submitted an affidavit in the court that accused Shamroz was innocent and she had no objection on accepting his bail application.
