National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Monday started investigation into Rs 1 billion allocated for purchase of equipment for government hospitals in 30 districts of the province.
NAB sought a detailed report of a Rs 1 billion contract for purchase of machinery for hospitals without legal formalities. Sources said that the provincial government had allocated Rs 1 billion in the 2010-11 budget for purchase of modern machinery for government hospitals of 30 districts but the amount lapsed. Afterwards, Balochistan Health Minister Ainullah Shams, belonging to the JUI-F, in a hurried move ordered Health Secretary Jalal Mandokhail to purchase machinery by awarding the contract to Siamon company.
