Hard work essential to regain lost dignity: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that we can get our lost dignity among the world if we start working hard and follow the principle of honesty. He said if the nation decided to reconstruct Pakistan, the country would surely be built according to the dreams of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. He was addressing with the launching ceremony of distribution of free laptops among talented students of the province at the Faisal Auditorium of Punjab University (PU) on Monday. The CM said the youth of the country were talented and free laptops distributions among students was a constructive practice, which would prove fruitful for whole nation.
Shahbaz said he was happy on visiting the historic varsity and also enthusiastic over the fact that he was inaugurating the plan of distribution of laptops among 125,000 deserving students. “We got this country after a number of sacrifices but still we are facing issues including power and gas load shedding.” He said, “In 1971, the country was separated in two parts that was a bitter incident of the country’s history, but still we did not have any lesson.” “We are relying on foreign assistance, which is the results of the aid that we are sufferings today at every level,’ he added.
Shahbaz said a corrupt government was ruling in the country and it would be batter to get rid of it as soon as possible. “It was shameful that we are atomic power but we have begging bowl in our hands and western countries are throwing few coins in our bowls.” He said in his recent visit to Germany, he made it clear that he did not came here for aid but for trade, adding that the nation should follow the Germans, who after a destruction in the World War II struggled hard to be among the developed nations.
Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said the first verse of the Holy Quran was related to pen and knowledge whereas 722 verses of the Holy Quran urged human beings to consider into the mysteries of the universe. He said only the nation who considered into the mysteries of the universe was powerful and progressed. He appealed to rulers of the country to allocate at least four percent of GDP to education and it would change our lives. He said it was unfortunate that Pakistan stood at 186 out of 193 countries in spending lowest of their GDP on education even some countries of Africa spent more GDP on education as compared to us. Principal PU College of Information Technology (PUCIT) Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar briefed the participants of the ceremony about the features of the laptop to be given to students.
STUDENTS PAY TRIBUTE: Students thanked the chief minister for choosing talented students for free laptops. They observed that distribution of laptops would help them students in their research work as well as leave a far-reaching impact on the education sector. A girl student said she was very poor and could not even think of purchasing a laptop and the CM had realised her dream.
