If all goes well, Farhan Akhtar might end up shooting in Pakistan. Actually, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is keen to shoot his upcoming ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, based on the life of athlete Milkha Singh, authentically. And one of the ideas was to shoot at Muzaffargarh district in Pakistan, where Milkha Singh was born, before he travelled to India during the partition. “Rakeyshji has been putting a lot of time and effort into getting the detailing of the project right. He doesn’t want to take any chances as far as the quality of the film goes,” says a unit hand. “So, he is keen to go to the same town and shoot with Farhan.” When contacted, Mehra admits, “We are keen to shoot on the borders of Pakistan to add more authenticity to the film since Milkha was born in one of the villages there. We will be applying for permissions (to shoot there) soon.”
Interestingly however, the production team which has done extensive research along the border areas of Pakistan as well as India, feels that since the topography of both countries is similar, they would be able to shoot in India without major problems. “But Rakeyshji is keen to apply for permissions before taking this call,” says the source from the unit. Farhan, on his part, has devoted all his energy to getting ready to play the Flying Sikh. Over the past few weeks, the actor has been going through rigorous training schedules to get into shape. In fact, he has already started growing his beard and hair to play the part authentically. Mehra’s film also stars Sonam Kapoor in a special role and is likely to hit the floors in March.
