Facts and figures

Facts and figures are held sacrosanct in different countries around the globe.

The countries develop their short-term and long-term policies and programmes on the basis of these facts and figures. But unfortunately, there are many departments of Sindh government which do not have the key facts and figures and those departments which boast of having the key data/facts and figures, don’t have them exact and are not updated with them.

The national and international organisations which have had an experience to work with various departments of Sindh government in the past and also during the last year’s disastrous rains and floods, they came up with this complaint that the lack of update facts and figures is a real handicap to materialise the well-thought and well-conceived people-friendly projects.

Like the past regime, the present elected government rulers are reported to have hired an army of statisticians, economists and advisers, planning and development experts but like all others, these lean and lethargic souls, do nothing but a jugglery of words and playing with figures.

Nothing has been updated, thus, nothing has changed. This is why there has been no planning and development after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in the province.

The budget allocated for various projects and schemes is used by corruption or is surrendered/gets lapsed. Is there anyone to take notice of this inefficiency, ineptness and inertness in the Sindh government departments and order concerned departments and proverbial ‘white elephants’ in those to update the facts and figures, statistics and do not waste their time and government resources only in manipulating with the past facts and figures? Sindh province also deserves progress and development we witness in other provinces.
