After facing criticism for ignoring the Park Enclave Project in favour of other projects, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finally decided to start work on the Park Enclave housing scheme from February 16, Pakistan Today learnt on Tuesday. The decision was taken during the CDA board members special meeting held on Tuesday. A source privy to the meeting, seeking anonymity, told Pakistan Today that various issues were discussed during the meeting, including setting the time for the development of the Park Enclave and floating the sectors acquired under the land sharing formula.
The source said the reasons behind the project’s delay were also investigated.
CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal said 40 percent of the funds generated through Park Enclave would be spent on its own development. He also criticised the ‘tradition’ of spending the funds generated by one project on others and said the practice should end.
Sources in the CDA alleged that the funds generated through the Park Enclave had been spent on other projects, endangering the housing scheme. They said the CDA needed to execute the projects which can generate funds for the civic body. The CDA chief had also claimed in the past that the Park Enclave could generate billions of rupees for the authority.
CDA spokesman Ramzan Sajid told Pakistan Today that it was decided in the meeting that a focal person would be appointed for monitoring the complaint enquiries of the civic body. The board members had also highlighted the progress on the development of the previously stalled sectors. He added that the issue of resolving the problems of the slums also came under discussion.
why 40%will be spent . where 60 % will go. CDA must clarify why the money earned from Park Enclave has been spent on other projects.
It is unfair that CDA is collecting 3 times more than market price and still not starting development work. Every penny collected from Park Enclave should be spent on its development and then later for its maintenance. The culture of using funds of one project in other project lead low quality services and amneties in the society.
1st ever housing scheme in which citizens not in government or public sector organizations can also particiapte! And even that is designed to rip people of their hard earned savings! Pay taxes for education, hospitals, etc without getting any of those facilities (pay again privately for children's school fees, private medicals, etc) and now pay for the Housing sector and its roads/infra-structure and yet they are taking away 1/3rd of that!!!
Why the other localities in other cities are ignored?May We have the attention of Chief Minister of Punjab to examine the locations of Lahore city, particularly Sandha area, where there is no racriation park for the resident.how it is petty that the PMA OR MNA do not bother to look into these serious problems of the area. They only come in the time of election and the whole period, they do not take pain to visit these areas to see and listen the basic problems of the public.as CM all the time says he has great feelings for the poor, but practically it is only show-biz.afterall we are human-beings and want good environament,CM to look into our basic problems.
