Bara residents protest against military operation

The Tehreek-e-Mutasareen Bara Khyber Agency held a sit-in outside the Governor’s House to protest against the military operation in the area and imposition of curfew and demanded giving the IDP status to affectees of the area.
The protesters were led by Shah Faisal Afridi and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) FATA General Secretary Sohail Khan. They held a protest outside the Railway Station Cantt and then marched towards the Governor’s House where they held a sit-in. The protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans. They said that the main bazaar should be reopened and a handsome package be given to traders for their rehabilitation and reconstruction of shops destroyed during the operation be carried out so that they could restart their businesses.
The protesters said that lasting peace in the agency could be restored through a jirga and with help of political parties. They demanded reopening of all educational institutions and health centers and compensation for the people whose loved ones were killed in the operation and houses destroyed. The protesters said that the government should provide employment opportunities to educated tribals of the agency, immediately release innocent people, reinstatement all sacked Khasadar personnel and award scholarships to students.
