70,000 children given anti-polio drops

As many as 70,000 children have been administered anti-polio drops during the first two days of the ongoing anti-polio drive in the rural areas of the city. Islamabad District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Azhar said that the anti-polio drive started from January 30 would continue until February 2. Dr Muhammad Azhar further said that 268 mobile teams were reaching the remote rural areas for house-to-house coverage and strict monitoring of the mobile teams’ performance was being ensured on daily basis. The assistant commissioner (secretariat), assistant commissioner (rural), magistrates (rural) (secretariat) and the Islamabad district health officer are conducting extensive visits to their respective areas to personally monitor the performance of mobile teams. Comprehensive logistic support and vehicles have been provided to the teams to ensure 100 per cent coverage.
