An angry mob got hold of two alleged bandits during a robbery bid in the New Karachi area on Saturday and gave them a severe thrashing, killing one of the suspects on the spot and leaving the other one on the verge of death.
The New Karachi Industrial Area police said three alleged robbers entered a residential compound in the Godhra Colony and started looting the residents. However, the residents overpowered them and started beating them.
As the people started gathering, one of the alleged bandits managed to flee from the spot under the cover of firing while two of his accomplices could not.
The mob started thrashing the suspects with wooden sticks and iron rods.
Until the police could reach the spot, the angry mob had killed one of the suspected robbers.
Talking with Pakistan Today, New Karachi Industrial Area SHO said that both robbers had sustained serious wounds and were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. “One of them succumbed to his injuries while the condition of the other suspect is also precarious,” he added. The SHO said the identity of both robbers could not be established as the injured robber is “not in his senses to record his statement”.
The police officer claimed that the area residents and witnesses have also refused to cooperate with the police in registration of FIR. “The police did not recover any weapons from the spot but the people are claiming that a third bandit fled with the guns,” he added.
