Two youths committed suicide in separate places of provincial metropolis on Saturday.
In the first incident, 18 years old Saadullah, a student of A Levels and resident of Askari X, shot himself dead for unknown reasons in South Cantt police limits on Saturday. According to Matiullah, father of the deceased, he heard shots being fired and rushed to the first floor of the house where he found Saad Ullah dead.
In another incident, 18 years old Faysal, a student of Engineering Diploma, died after taking poisonous pills in Township police area. The friends of deceased said he had taken pills saying that he did not want to live such a life. Faysal’s father Arshad said the deceased was in an emotional shock due to the death of his uncle.
OLD MAN CRUSHED TO DEATH: An elderly man was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle in Shafiqabad police limits on Saturday. The deceased was identified as 70-years-old Mehdi Khan, a resident of Mardan. The deceased was crossing the road when a speeding car hit him. Khan died on the way to the hospital and his body was shifted to the morgue.
BOY SHOT DEAD: A 30-years-old man was shot dead over old rivalry in Shahdra Town police limits on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Dilawar, father of three children and a resident of Qalandar Colony, Shahdra Town. According to details, Dilawar was returning home after buying milk when some unidentified persons came in a car opened fire on him. The victim, who sustained serious bullet injuries, was shifted to Mayo Hospital for medical aid where doctors announced him dead.
YOUTH POISONED: A 24-years-old man was intoxicated by swindlers in Shafiqabad police area on Saturday. According to details, locals of Batti Chowk area traced a young man who was lying unconscious and was bleeding from his mouth and nose and informed the police, who shifted the body a hospital where he was declared dead. Police suspected that the boy was robbed by swindlers who had intoxicated him.
PRISONER PASSES AWAY: A 65-years-old under trial prisoner succumbed to heart stroke outside the jail on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Gulzar and was being tried for murdering his own son. On Saturday, police were shifting him from the court back to the jail when he passed away in the way.
POLICE ARREST 2 GANGS: Shahdra Police, on Saturday, arrested five members of a robbery gang from Begum Kot area. The arrested persons included Mushtaq, Mukhtar and Iftikhar alias Khari, the gang leader. Shahdra Police SHO Maqsood Ahmad said the police had received information about presence of some suspected persons in Begum Kot area and had arrested them in a raid, adding that illegal weapons had been recovered from the men’s possession.
Separately, Investigation Police Civil Lines Division claimed to have arrested a bike stealing gang and recovered 6 motorcycles on Saturday. According to details, police nabbed Nadeem alias Pappi and Sajid Ali and traced six different cases against them in different police stations of Lahore.
