At least three people, including a doctor, were shot dead in the on-going targeted killing spree in Karachi on Saturday, police said.
According to details, Dr Jaffer Mohsin was reading newspaper outside his house in Gulberg Police Station Block-12, when some unknown saboteurs opened fire at him.
The medical doctor was rushed to Dr Ziaud Din Hospital where his death was confirmed and the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Mohsin was former secretary to Aal-Aba Imambargah.
In another incident, unknown miscreants opened unprovoked firing on three people who were sitting in front of a private company in Ranchore Line of Ramswami.
Resultantly, two died and one sustained injuries. Reports regarding target killing triggered tension in the entire area.
Meanwhile, five people were injured in a hand grenade attack in Karachi on Saturday, police and witnesses said.
Police said unknown bike riders hurled grenades at a shop situated in busy market place of Liaqat Abad No 2, injuring five people.
Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted those injured to the hospital.
Panic spread in the vicinity and the incident prompted shopkeeper to shutdown their shops and close all business activities in the market.
