Pakistani ambassador to United States Sherry Rehman met Tina Foster, the lawyer for imprisoned Pakistani Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
During the meeting, Tina Foster discussed the case of Dr Aafia with Sherry Rehman. Both the dignitaries also talked about the possibility of an ease in the sentence for Dr. Aafia as well as her return to Pakistan.
Tina Foster assured the Pakistani ambassador that the embassy and Pakistani consulate in Houston are in contact with Dr. Aafia.
Sherry Rehman told Foster that Pakistani embassy would protect the rights of Dr. Aafia, adding that the embassy would also step up efforts for telephonic contact between Dr. Aafia and her family.
The Pakistani ambassador also said that she would herself meet Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and that she had told the jail authority to provide medical treatment to Dr. Aafia in the jail.
