The Lahore High Court (LHC) Election Tribunal (ET) on Friday reserved verdict on an election petition seeking disqualification of Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Iftikhar Ahmad Khan elected from PP-81, Jhang IX.
The eligibility of Parliamentary Secretary for Regligious Affairs Iftikhar Ahmad Khan was challenged by rival candidate Iqbal Khan, submitting that the BA degree of the MPA was bogus. Iqbal had lost his election as independent candidate to the respondent in 2008.
The ET, comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the petition. The petitioner alleged that Iftikhar had used unfair means to obtain his BA degree from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University.
The petitioner pleaded that the respondent MPA should be declared disqualified on the basis of having obtained a degree through impersonation. The ET reserved its verdict after hearing the arguments.
