Lal Masjid deputy prayer leader Maulana Amir Siddiq alleged on Friday that “some politicians” used the Lal Masjid crisis to get votes and come to power.
Speaking at the “Islam Zindabad” conference organised by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in Karachi, Siddiq appreciated JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s efforts to resolve the issue during the operation against Lal Masjid.
Covertly criticising Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Siddiqi said that Pakistan is not in need of a “tsunami” but needs to “unite under the name of Islam’s last prophet in order to install an Islamic system in Pakistan.”
“People with luxurious lifestyle cannot bring an Islamic revolution,” he added.
JUI-F claims to have set up 70,000 chairs at the Shahra-e-Quaideen venue, with a separate sitting area for party elders.
The party volunteers are responsible for guarding the gate and entrance and exit points. Apart from JUI-F own volunteers, there are 1,000 police officers deployed for security purposes.
