Rejecting recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS), the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday threatened to besiege the Parliament House on February 3, during its joint session, saying that the federal government wants to use parliament for reopening NATO supply lines.
Holding a press conference, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that his party would stage a sit-in at the Parliament House to foil the federal government’s designs to re-open NATO supply lines. He warned the federal government that the JI would not let it to surrender the nation’s esteem in exchange for a few dollars. Liaqat said that the US had already become active to bailout President Asif Ali Zardari and his team from the memo issue. The JI leader said that the party would soon inform the PCNS about its reservations. He said that the JI might withdraw its representatives from other parliamentary committees as well.
