Indian High Commission celebrates ‘Democratic Day’

The Indian High Commission in Lahore marked its first ‘Democratic Day’ with fervor on Friday. The same day was observed in Islamabad on Thursday and it would be celebrated in Karachi on Saturday (today).
A grand music show, including splendid performances by Indian singers, was arranged for the entertainment of the guest dignitaries.
Addressing on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal said that music could play a very important role in improving relations between India and Pakistan. He said that music had no boundaries and the artist’s role was of a messenger of peace. He appreciated the role of Pakistani media in mending the relations between the two countries, adding that peace was in the favour of the people in both countries.
The event was attended by Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami, several politicians, including Jahangir Badar, Muhammad Mehdi, Ishaq Khaqwani, Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri, Dr Mubashar Hassan, cultural representative Yusaf Salahudin and lawyer Asma Jahangir.
