At least 20 militants were killed by security forces in retaliation to an attack on a security checkpost in Kurram Agency on Thursday. Officials said 22 soldiers also sustained injuries in the attack by the insurgents. They said that 20 militants were killed in retaliatory fire by the security forces after a checkpost was attacked by militants armed with heavy weaponry in Kurram Agency.
Kurram is considered a main base of the Pakistani Taliban. Scores of insurgents are believed to be hiding there after escaping military operations in the nearby tribal regions in recent years. Meanwhile, at least 15 militants were killed and a security forces personnel sustained injuries when during an offensive against insurgents in Joggi area of Hangu on Thursday.
