The UK Investors Team on Thursday showed interest in investing in different potential sectors in FATA and expressed the desire to hold discussions with the FATA Secretariat and FATA Development Authority in order to find out the possible sectors, projects and modalities for cooperation and collaboration. Team leader David Laurence Massie and Deputy Leader Farah Waters along with others called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar at the Governor’s House and after detailed discussion, it was agreed upon that both sides will hold more meetings to explore the areas of investment and joint projects.
The UK team leader indicated that they were mostly interested in mineral and hydel power stations and related major infrastructure projects. The governor, welcoming the UK team, said that it was the provincial government’s policy to provide incentives, facilities and protection to domestic and foreign investors whosoever took interest to invest in FATA. “Our Tribal Areas have plenty of investment opportunities and we will not only welcome potential investors but also facilitate them”, Kausar said, adding that the situation was becoming conducing for taking socio-economic initiatives in the Tribal Areas. He said that the region had lagged behind in development for many years and now was the time to develop the area and remove deprivation of the people of FATA.
