The Balochistan Assembly (BA) on Thursday passed a resolution urging state institutions to avoid confrontation, as it would damage democracy. The assembly session was held with Speaker Aslam Bhootani in the chair. Works minister Haji Ali Madad Jatak moved the resolution. “The Balochistan Assembly reposes its trust in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and fully supports their efforts to strengthen democracy,” the resolution said. It underlined the need to maintain the principle of division of powers and that no state institution would interfere into affairs of other state institutions.
The resolution said that the bright future of Pakistan and welfare of the masses was dependent on smooth flourishing of democracy, adding that only the constitutional government could guarantee the federation’s strength, resolution of national issues and empowerment of the nation. Jatak said that President Zardari and PM Gilani had been playing a significant role for strengthening democracy. “The masses had given a mandate to the incumbent government to complete its five-year tenure,” he said adding that supremacy of parliament should be recognised.
