The Lahore High Court on Wednesday, issuing a show cause notice, summoned Punjab health secretary, DCOs Chiniot and Jhang for February 8 on a contempt petition against non-payment of salaries to a security guard for the last 19 years despite orders by court.
The court issued notice on a plea filed by Munir Ahmad, an employee of Health Department posted at Ahmad Nagar Rural Health Center, Chiniot who said he had been running from pillar to post for the last 10 years but in vain.
The petitioner’s counsel Abid Hussain told the court that despite orders of the LHC, the concerned authorities were not paying the salaries of the petitioner. He prayed the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the delinquent officials. The court took a serious note of the matter and observed that it was a sheer negligence on the part of the department as the poor security guard was being deprived of salaries.
The court adjourned the matter till February 8 and summoned secretary health and others along with record.
May Allah have mercy on his. The poor man… my hat off to him for the perseverance.
