Prime minister leaves for Davos

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani left on Wednesday to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) being held in Davos, Switzerland from January 25 to 29. “He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Senator Abbas Afridi,” a Foreign Office statement said. The PM will interact with political and corporate leaders and participate in an interaction session on “Adapting to Climate Risk” and “Informal Gathering of World Economic Leader” (IGWEL).
“On sidelines of the WEF, the PM is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the president of Azerbaijan, president of Switzerland, PM of Denmark, PM of Thailand and Microsoft Corporation Chairman Bill Gates,” the statement said. Gilani will also hold meetings with the World Health Organisation (WHO) director general, WEF founder and executive director and the UNHCR. He will also host a business lunch on January 28, which will be attended by business leaders.
