As a part of its campaign to pay tributes to the living legends of the country, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) arranged a night to acknowledge the work of veteran artist Nisaar Qadri. Qadri launched the event with his catch line: “Machis Ho Gi Aap Ky Paas?” He used the match boxes he got from the audience not to light a cigarette but a candle to depict the solidarity among the disintegrated masses of the country and to give a message of love, peace, and prosperity.
PNCA Director General Tauqir Nasir, Khalid Hafeez, Tariq Malik, Rabia Tabassum, Kanwal Naseer and many other TV artists paid tributes to Qadri, saying that he is not only an actor but an institution. Nasir said: “If we can invite a VIP and arrange a red carpet reception for him, why can not we do the same for an artist who is not carving for financial support but a few words of respect.”
