Pakistan-ASEAN ties discussed

The Punjab University Department of Political Science in collaboration with Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) organised a seminar on “ASEAN-Pakistan Relations” on Wednesday. University of Indonesia Department of International Relations Head Dr Hariyadi Wirawan was the keynote speaker, while Indonesian Ambassador Ishak Latuconsina, Political Science Department Chairperson (also CSAS Director) Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members and scholars were also present on the occasion. Dr Hariyadi vowed to develop cooperation between University of Indonesia and CSAS to start the courses on South East Studies Affairs.
Ishak Latuconsina said there was a need for cooperation in economic and cultural prospects between Pakistan and Indonesia. He also expressed his desire to invest the resource rich area Balochistan, but he had some security concerns. Meanwhile, a three-member Indonesian delegation led by Ambassador Ishak Latuconsina, visited the Punjab University and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran at his office.
