Zardari confers Benazir democracy award on Aung San Suu Kyi

President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday conferred the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Award for Democracy on Myanmar democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi.
The president especially flew from Naypyidaw to Yangon to meet the National League for Democracy head. In a special investiture ceremony to pay tribute to Aung San Suu Kyi, Zardari awarded the leader known for her 22-year-old struggle for democracy. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari were also present. The president said that Pakistanis hold Aung San Suu Kyi in high esteem for her sacrifices.

  1. It's a joke; Benazir would have had lots to learn from Aung San Suu Kyi rather than insisting on coming back despite warnings, getting a lot more than 100 people dead while doing her rallies. She was delusional.

    • shame on all those bhutto haters cursing benazir. the common thing b/w both women leaders is their peaceful struggle against dictatorship. benazir always said for dictators around the world ,democracy is the best revenge.so,plz,rise above ur hatred.benazir died while fighting for democracy in pakistan..she was the only leader who stood up at such a young age against general zia and bore torture,imprisonment and exile.mullah military alliance finally had her killed but she still lives in the hearts of millions of ppl.and if u havent noticed,president zardari has said that he is ”honoured” that ms aung suu has accepted the award and so r we. RIP,Benazir.long live aung suu,long live democracy
