Calls for strike

The other day, I went to district courts Karachi and I saw that there were no cases being heard in the courts because of a strike call given by lawyers. I asked a lawyer as to why there was a strike in courts. He replied that an advocate was killed in interior Sindh and the lawyers there were showing consolation and solidarity by boycotting the courts.

When I inquired more about these strike calls by lawyers, I came to know that they are a common affair in the lower courts and because of them cases aren’t being handled by the courts in a timely manner. I appeal to CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry, who has taken so many suo motu notices, to take another one on this issue.
