Student commits suicide

A student of intermediate committed suicide after her parents stopped her from appearing in supplementary exams in the Shahdra Police Station precincts on Tuesday. Nadra, daughter of Liaqat Ali and resident of Shahab Din, Shahdra had failed in one FSc paper over which she requested her parents to appear in supplementary exams. However, her parents admonished her over failure and stopped her from appearing in the supplementary exams. Dejected over the attitude of her parents, she swallowed poison pills and fell unconscious. Nadra was rushed to a local hospital where she died. The police handed over the body to the family of the deceased after completing the legal formalities.
Fire: Valuables worth Rs 300,000 were reduced to ashes when fire erupted at a shop in the Gujjarpura Police Station precincts on Tuesday. The Rescue 1122 Fire Service reached the scene after being informed and extinguished the fire. Arshad, the shop-owner, said that the fire broke out due to short circuit and engulfed worth Rs 300,000, including plastic pots.
