Punjabi poets gather in capital

Calling upon the intellectuals to highlight the need of harmony through their writings, poets at a Punjabi mushaira on Tuesday said similar events were vital for integration in the country.
Eminent poets including Talib Hussain, Naseer Khan Baloch and Hayat Bhatti expressed these views at the gathering organised by Punjabi Adabi Parchar Islamabad at the Conference Hall of Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL). Rai Muhammad Khan Nasir (Nankana Sahib), Ghulam Rasool Azhar (Mianwali), Aqib Satianvi (Jhang), Jafar Anjum Jatiana (Jhang), Amjad Haral (Chiniot) and Akhtar Raza Saleemi (Islamabad) recited their poetry.
Talib expressed his satisfaction over holding of a successful event, which was attended by more than 300 poets, writers and other dignitaries from all walks of life. He also congratulated the office bearers of Punjabi Adabi Parchar Islamabad on the initiative. Jafar Anjum Jatian, the president of Punjabi Adabi Parchar, highlighted the importance of literature in spreading the message of love, peace and humanity. Amjad Haral, the general secretary of Punjabi Adabi Parchar, thanked the participants and promised to hold literary programmes across the country.
