Captain Hook would certainly approve: the Walt Disney Co. has overturned a rule in place since 1955 banning facial hair for its US theme park workers. Starting February 3, workers at Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California will be allowed to let their mustaches, beards and goatees grow freely. “Disney periodically reviews its rules and the company decided that now was an appropriate time to revise the hair policy,” Andrea Finger, a Disney spokesperson in Orlando, Florida, told AFP. The ban on facial hair has been in place since the global purveyor of family-friendly entertainment opened its first theme park. The company last revised its dress code in 2000, when it banned facial hair only while at work.
