It was reported a while ago that The Film and Television Producers’ Guild was planning a celebration to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema. News is that the merriment takes off at the Apsara Awards being shot tonight at Yash Raj Studios. Living legends like Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Hema Malini will be presented with trophies for their contribution to Hindi cinema. A special act has been designed with Shiamak Davar and his troupe to pay tributes to these artistes’ iconic works.
Anushka Sharma is gearing up to set the stage on fire with a hip-hop dance as well as some Maharashtrian folk style dance. Soon-to-be married couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are said to bring their real-life love story alive on stage while performing at the award function. Kareena Kapoor will also set the stage ablaze with her south Indian act. For her performance at the Apsara Awards, the actor will perform to a medley of chartbusters like ‘Nakka Mukka’, ‘Ringa Ringa’ and ‘Kolaveri Di’. Also, Ameesha Patel will present an act incorporating the recent item numbers like ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Ooh La La’ and ‘Madhubala’. The show will be hosted by Karan Johar and Farah Khan.
This year ‘Rockstar’ topped the nomination list for the Apsara Awards with 13 nods, with the ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ winning nine nominations each. Agencies
