The Sindh government formed an assessment committee on Monday to identify “ghost employees” so that they can be removed.
There are thousands of employees drawing salaries from government departments, but do not perform their duties. There are more than 10,000 of these ghost employees in the Sindh Education Department alone.
The committee would ascertain the eligibility of the government servants based on the data provided by NADRA through the departments concerned. The body would then find out the reasons for the discrepancy in finding of the data provided by NADRA and the payroll provided by the Sindh accountant general. The committee would then recommend disciplinary proceedings for the people responsible for the discrepancies and elimination of ghost employees.
