Karachi-based artist Mashkoor Raza’s paintings exhibition ended at the Revivers Galleria on a positive note on Monday. The exhibition was qualified as a success as the artist sold out more than 95 per cent of the paintings on display.
Raza’s solo exhibition titled ‘Journey of Colours’ started on January 7 with 38 paintings on display. All of the paintings were created by the artist during 2011 except for four which he painted in 2009 and 2010. Revivers Galleria owner and curator Sara Anjum said the exhibition had to be closed a couple of days ahead of the scheduled date as the art collectors who had bought Raza’s paintings wanted them to be delivered without delay.
The paintings, which mostly included depictions of abstract images of women and horses, was a huge success right from its start as more than a dozen paintings were sold on the exhibition’s first day. One enthusiastic art collector alone bought nine paintings. Anjum said the paintings’ sale established the credibility of the art gallery which exhibits genuine artwork, preferably of well-known artists, though newcomers were also encouraged. She added that she was proud that her gallery enjoyed such respect and credibility among the art collectors and the artists’ community. Anjum expressed her gratitude to the artists, art students, art lovers and the collectors for visiting the gallery in large numbers and showing keen interest in the paintings on display. She added that more solo exhibitions and group art shows were in the pipeline in the coming weeks at the Revivers Galleria.
