Foreign policy may be against US wishes: Fazl

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlurehman said on Tuesday that unlike the past, several parts of the proposed foreign policy would be against the US wishes.
He was addressing a seminar titled “International economic and political crises and responsibilities of religious scholars” organised by Coordination Council of Religious Leaders and Intellectual Pakistan (CCRLIP) here at a local hotel.
On possible US attack against Iran, he said that Pakistan could not bear another conflict.
Former JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Council of Islamic Ideology chairman Maulana Ahmad Khan Sherani, scholars from various schools of thought besides scholars from foreign and foreign diplomats and others were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the seminar, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that they would start protests if restoration of NATO supply was sought.
At the end of the seminar, the participants issued joint declaration saying that Quran and Sunnah is the base of unity among parties and sects.
The scholars from various countries and school of thoughts agreed that the political systems in Muslim countries should be gradually converted into democracies.
The Pakistani scholars rejected any introduction of secular system in the country and stressed giving Arabic a status of compulsory language in the country.
They also demanded to Islamise judiciary through Islamic Ideology Council and ending of interest based banking in the country.
They agreed to hold annual meeting of scholars from various schools of thought for guiding the government in the issues pertaining to unity and defense of the country.
