The Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed on Monday that the Rescue 1122 employees’ salaries be made equivalent to those received by the Punjab Police.
He was talking to the rescue workers during his visit to the Emergency Services Academy.
Sharif admired the Rescue 1122 services and said the credibility of the organisation was a result of its excellent services, its visionary leadership, effective management, monitoring systems and the rescuers’ devotion.
He said the present government had spread the Rescue 1122 network across the province and was now taking it to the district level. British Parliamentarian Muhammad Sarwar said he was proud to be connected with Rescue 1122 which was now a model for the SAARC countries. He also assured of continuous support from the people of the United Kingdom to the Pakistani people as well as the rescue service. Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Rizwan Naseer said the service had rescued more than 1.2 million emergency victims and had an average response time of less than seven minutes.
He stated that Rescue 1122 had crossed provincial boundaries and provided technical assistance to other provinces. He added that the rescuers would maintain internationally acknowledged service standards by providing emergency services in case of any emergency or disaster.
