Civil society representative, intellectuals, legal activists, journalists, women, students, trade union activists, religious minorities and academia from all over the country on Monday shared their deep concerns over the current political situation and crises.
A national consultation was held in Human rights Commission of Pakistan’s office in Durrab Patail Auditorium. A resolution was passed unanimously said a crisis was being manufactured on irrelevant grounds ostensibly to subvert the Parliament and to destabilise the democratic dispensation. “We unanimously resolve to resist all such attempts through mobilising citizens of Pakistan.” The participants affirmed that the principle of parliament being the supreme authority in the land was inviolable and it must not be compromised under any circumstances, adding that the right of accountability of democratic institutions vested with the people, who would assert it in the most effective democratic manner whenever required.
