Streaming water in the River Ravi ripped through a manmade barrier around 5:00 am near Gulshan Ravi on Sunday, flooding the construction site and vehicles. The water streamed its way down into the River Ravi where men were at work. The water broke through the manmade barrier and flooded the entire construction work, submerging four vehicles and a crane in water.
Talking to Pakistan Today, a Rescue 1122 official said that they were information around 5:00 am and the rescue efforts were initiated immediately. He said that no causality was reported, while 28 people were rescued from the site, adding that it took the Rescue 1122 personnel four hours to rescue all the men and clear the area. “Now we are waiting for the water level to fall, as soon as it does, we shall resume the operations to take the vehicles out,” he added.
