Punjab, Balochistan off to winning starts

Punjab, ZTBL and Balochistan were off to winning start in the 1st Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Women Cricket Challenge Trophy that rolled into action at Kinnaird College ground and the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. In the pool A match at Kinnaird Collage Ground, Punjab beat Federal Areas team by 17 runs. Marium Hasan played a vital role in the match. Although she made 63 runs but she her team failed to win.
In the Pool B match at the Gaddafi Stadium, ZTBL defeated Sindh by a big margin of 117 runs. Their captain Sana Mir not only remained not out but also took two wickets to be named the player of the match. In the last match of the day, Sindh after defeat against ZTBL, tasted another defeat and this time from Balochistan by seven wickets. Elizabeth Khan took three key wickets to be named the player of the match.
Earlier, Fauzia Gilani along with other PCB officials inaugurated the championship here at the Kinnaird College ground. She congratulated parents of the cricketers on the excellent performance of their daughters. And praised the efforts of the PCB and PCB Women Wing Chairperson Bushra Aitzaz. PCB COO Subhan Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
