The parents of Prince William’s wife Catherine have launched a range of outfits for “adult occasions” on their party goods website, a British tabloid said Saturday. The Party Pieces firm, owned by the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton, offers a mini-skirted French maid outfit and a female pirate fancy dress costume under a section entitled adult occasions.
The site (www.partypieces.co.uk) shows pictures of the pirate outfit with stockings and a slit skirt and also advertises a short spotted “ladybug” dress and Superman outfit. There is also a blow-up Sumo outfit described as “the funniest fancy dress costume you can find,” the Daily Mail reported.
Some sections of the British media have questioned the taste of the royal in-laws, accusing the Middletons of cashing-in on their connections by creating a range of royal wedding-themed memorabilia. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge — referred to as “Kate” by many Britons —, turned 30 this month. By most accounts she has scarcely put a foot wrong since stepping into the international public glare when she married William, second in line to the throne, last April.
