Speakers of more than three dozens religious and political parties on Sunday asked the government not to restore NATO supply line, warning that the Pakistan Defence Council (PDC) would halt the supply by force in case the government did not do so.
They were addressing a Defence of Pakistan Conference organised by Pakistan Defence Council (PDC) at Liaqat Bagh. Speaking on the occasion, PDC Chairman Maulana Samiul Haq, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan, General (r) Hameed Gul, Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Jamatud Daawa chief Professor Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Former AJK prime minister Sardar Attiq Ahmed Khan, Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi and others vowed that the PDC would defend the country inch by inch and no compromise would be made on its territorial integrity.
They strongly criticised government’s decision to give Most Favored Nation (MFN) status to India. The speakers demanded the government quit the war on terror. “If the NATO supply lines are restored, we will launch a nation wide campaign against it. America is the biggest enemy of Muslim countries and now the time has come for the Pakistani government to realise the fact,” JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan said.
He said it was a need of the hour for Islamabad to change its foreign policy and permanently close the NATO supply routes, as opening them meant inviting more drone attacks. AML President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed called upon all religious parties to unite and said an Islamic revolution was in the offing. “America has been defeated in the Afghan war. Pakistani soil will not be used against Afghanistan,” said Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.
