Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while taking strict notice of death of 28 people due to alleged medicines reaction at the
Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), has sought a report on the matter within three days.
The Interior Minister on Monday ordered a joint inquiry into deaths of patients at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology and to present a detailed report till Thursday.
The investigation team constituted to probe the mass deaths at PIC would be headed by Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Waqar Ahmad.
The investigation team will find out whether the medicines, whose reaction caused deaths to cardiac patients, were bought from local market or were imported.
On the other hand, Dr Javed Akram, the head of Punjab Institute of Cardiology investigation committee has said the chance of sabotage cannot be ruled out in this regard. He claimed that the substance initially identified in the medicine is not generally used in pharmaceutical factory.
