Punjab allocates 1,000 kanals of land for Rawalpindi graveyard

The Punjab government has allotted a piece of 1000 kanals of land for the graveyard for Rawalpindi city.
In view of the shortage of space for graveyard for the city, the Punjab government allotted the land at Rakh Dhamial for a graveyard, informed the City District Government spokesman. He said the provincial government had also decided to provide the facility to families for carrying the bodies from their houses to Rakh Dhamial, which is about two kilometers from Dhamial.
A bus has also been allocated. The aggrieved families could contact the concerned department of the TMA to avail the facility of the bus for carrying the dead bodies to the graveyard. He said that the chief minister had also directed the city district government to start construction work of boundary walls around the new graveyard.
Seven policemen awarded punishment: Seven cops were awarded various departmental punishments, including dismissal from service, by City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar on various charges. According to details, the CPO took stern action against the cops during a meeting held at Police Line No-1 which was chaired by him. Those who were awarded punishment of dismissal from service included constables Waqas Ahmed, Tauseef Ahmed, Khurram and Qamar Waqas on the charge of absence from duty, while Assistance Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ghazanfar Ali was demoted and made head constable on taking bribe. Constable Numan Sadiq was also dismissed from service on bribery charge, while Constable Faisal Mustafa was also awarded the same punishment for having contacts with criminals and outlaws.
A spokesman for the CPO said the police officials, who were awarded different punishments, hand found guilty of various charges including irresponsible attitude, negligence and absence from duty.
Tourists advised to use old Murree Road: Rawalpindi Commissioner Zahid Saeed has advised the tourists to use old Murree Road instead of Express-way for a convenient journey to Murree especially in snowfall season.
He said that special instructions have been issued to the administration and traffic police to facilitate and help the tourists and make sure regular flow of traffic on the roads leading to Murree. Local administration and Traffic police have devised a comprehensive traffic plan to avoid any traffic mess at the roads of Murree particularly during snowfall.
Commissioner Rawalpindi said that on Friday evening, a little snowfall was recorded in Murree but there was normal traffic flow due to better traffic arrangements. Zahid Saeed said that tourists should cooperate with traffic police and instructions of the traffic police should be followed accordingly.
He further said that the tourists and local residents, all should follow the traffic plan during snowfall.
